The hunter featured in this book
traveled with Swanepoel and Scandrol (www.hunt-africa.com) for their South African Safari.
Their photos were delivered to us digitally for book design and layout.
The images
below represent a 10x10-inch, 60-page book (30 leaves, 60 sides).
This book includes
approximately 60 photos.
Many of the page
spreads
in this sample include multiple versions to show possible variations on
layouts. We typically do more than one layout per page (sometimes
several layouts for any give page spread) from which the client may
choose. We can also vary the page layout according to feedback
from the client after viewing the initial page layouts.

Back Cover and Front Cover
Shown Together (Wrap-around Style)
(Back cover to left, front cover to right)
In
this case, we have chosen map of South Africa embellished with an aged
effect and surrounded with images of cloth overlays.

An alternate version of the cover
is a bit more subdued but very effective in its simplicity.

Page 1 Variations
The first page stands alone (as does the last page of the book) and
is not a "spread" as other pages throughout the book are.
Typically, the first page of the book should be bold and make a
statement about the success of the trip. After the first page,
photo images and page layouts are most often presented in rough
chronological order. The first image maybe full-bleed (edge to
edge on the page) or surrounded by a border.

An alternate approach for page 1
with a different starting point that complements the chosen cover maps.

Pages 2 / 3 Variations
In this case, we have chosen to revisit a variation of the map
concept as shown on the cover of the book. Each page spread (sets
of two pages side by side) represents a 10x20-inch panorama that can be
designed with many variations applied.

Pages 4 / 5 Variations
Page backgrounds can be done in colors, faded/gradient colors, or
faded images from the safari itself. Certain images may span more
than one page and cross over onto the adjacent page for effect.

Pages 6 / 7 Variations
Panoramic images that span two full pages may be used, with or
without smaller images superimposed on the larger image.

Pages 8 / 9 Variations
Some images may span all of one page and part of another, sharing
the second page with another image.
